CMI Partners Locally to Feed 30 Families
Community Markets Inc. (“CMI”) is grateful to have recently partnered with the West Virginia Farmer’s Market Association (“WVFMA”) to feed 30 underserved Appalachian families. WVFMA and the West Virginia Department of Agriculture Veterans and Heroes to Agriculture Program (“WVDA”) purchased 30 whole chickens from Red House Farm and provided them for CMI to distribute.

This generous donation gave local, healthy meat to families, and is a great example of how community partnership can fight against hunger, one act at a time.
“This donation of fresh whole chickens from Red House Farm and partnership are meant to bring awareness to the availability of a poultry processing trailer that is now available for producers to use in the Bunker Hill area,” said Holly Morgan, Executive Director of the WVFMA. “This trailer was a partnership between WVDA Veterans and Heroes to Agriculture and the West Virginia Farmers Market Association to support our producers in their agricultural businesses.”
“The WVDA Veterans & Heroes to Agriculture program is dedicated to strengthening our agricultural footprint and improving communities through valuable resources and partnerships. By collaborating with the WV Farmers Market Association, we’ve provided easier access to a poultry processing trailer, helping to alleviate hunger and boost nutrition for 30 underserved Appalachian families,” said WVDA Veterans and Heroes to Agriculture Program Assistant Eryck Stamper. “I commend Community Markets Inc. and Red House Farm for their dedication to reducing hunger in West Virginia’s in-need communities. Partnerships like these are the cornerstone of a healthy and resilient West Virginia.”
Red House Farm is a local farm in Bunker, WV, which provides fresh, pastured poultry, eggs, and chemical-free produce.
