Community Markets Inc. Partners with Jefferson Security Bank
November 19, 2024
Community Markets Inc.(“CMI”) is pleased to announce a partnership with Jefferson Security Bank (“JSB”) who together will feed underserved West Virginian families with healthy food produced locally.
CMI began working with JSB in September 2023, when several bank employees volunteered for a Food Box Giveaway which was a United Way of the Eastern Panhandle Day of Caring event. 150 families were fed that day with healthy food grown at West Virginian farms.
Mark Peiffer, Operation Manager at CMI, had nothing but praise for JSB and the ongoing joint partnership:
“Community Markets Inc. is very grateful for the generosity of and culture of community service within Jefferson Security Bank,” Peiffer said. “Even before our partnership was officially established, bank Employees led by Jessica Jacot volunteered at a few Food Box Giveaways. CMI is excited to partner with JSB to feed food insecure families and support local farmers in our community.”
In 2024, CMI was awarded a $15,000 grant from Jefferson Security Bank which will be disbursed in $5,000 increments over the next three years. The funds will be used to support CMI’s food security and local food access programs. JSB will also continue to work with CMI on other service projects going forward, assisting where they can and providing volunteers at CMI’s events.
“We are thrilled to partner with Community Markets, Inc. to support their mission of providing fresh, locally grown food to families in need,” said Jessica Jacot, JSB Retail Banking Officer. “This partnership reflects our shared commitment to building healthier, more resilient communities by ensuring access to nutritious food while supporting local farmers and producers.”
