Help Feed Hungry Families and Support Local Farmers in WV!

Community Markets Inc. is recruiting five (5) individuals to serve for a yearlong term of service as AmeriCorps VISTA Members!

Join the team of a growing nonprofit and jump into the fast-paced and exciting work of building wealth and wellness for West Virginians with healthy food grown locally!

The positions are full-time (40 hrs/wk), require serving on site or in the field (remote work is not allowed), reliable transportation, and a desire to make a lasting impact on thousands of West Virginians. Applicants most be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

The service year will begin on October 21, 2024.

Serve your community for the next year through Community Markets Inc. in one of these essential roles:

IT Specialist

Website Improvement/Maintenance, Page Creation, Routine Content Updates, IT Security Updates, Project Research, Design, and Implementation (such as eCommerce multi-site), etc. Assists as needed with other operational tasks that may not be IT specific. At least two years of IT undergraduate study or work experience is desired but not required.

Program Specialist: Food Box Giveaway

Community outreach, forming new partnerships, maintaining current partnerships, schedule Food Box Giveaways, recruit volunteers, create “menu”, order & coordinate food delivery/pickup from farmers/vendors, etc., New program research, design, and implementation, assists as needed with other operational tasks, able to safely drive the truck/trailer (training provided).

Program Specialist: Local Food Access

Mobile farmers markets coordinator. Recruit and lead volunteers and assist with all weekly Market tasks, farmer/vendor outreach & onboarding, customer support/service, training market volunteers, adding/removing products, vendor liaison, etc. Collaborates with the IT Specialist to update content of e-commerce websites, assists as needed with other operational tasks, able to safely drive truck/trailer (training provided). At least two years of retail and/or customer service experience is desired but not required.

Communications Specialist

Content creator. Manages social media, writes/publishes newsletters and social media content, press releases, captures photos at events, creates promotional videos. Creates graphics and flyers, designs Annual Report layout, etc., assists as needed with other operational tasks. At least two years of communications or marketing undergraduate study or work experience is desired but not required.

Fundraising Specialist

Collaborates with Operations Manager and Program Manager to research and write grants, assist with post-award compliance, prepare partner reports, build and maintain funder relationships. Assists Program Manager in planning Community Outreach programs and events, assists as needed with other operational tasks. At least two years of writing, business administration, and/or marketing undergraduate study or work experience is desired but not required.
